What I'd really love to be doing right now is to play soccer again.
It's got nothing to do with the recent Lions defence of the ASEAN CHAMPIONSHIP coz if you remember, I did try to do something like this unsuccessfully last year too.
My mistake was to commit myself to playing for a competitive amateur team. Wasn't surprised that I got kicked out coz being in the retail industry back then and even now, time is a luxury I can't afford.
So I won't be too ambitious this time. Just looking forward for a kickabout once or twice a week, on Tuesdays mostly when I'm on halfday and when MLB has evening classes. Doesn't matter if it's street soccer, basketball court soccer or field soccer as long as I get to kick a ball with a bunch of guys.
I'm mentally rushing this thing coz my back and knees are getting more and more creaky the older I get and it is obvious that the longer I wait, the lesser my own chances are to actually get to do this.
Problem is though, besides some kids who sometimes play at the nearby multipurpose hall, no other male adult in my neighbourhood seems to give a bleep about soccer.
No one wants to play with meeeee!
It's apparent coz if I remember right, my SISTER and I were the only ones in this area who screamed our heads off when we witnessed Khairul score the Cup-clinching goal for the Lions against Thailand on TV a few weeks ago.
I came across some guys called the Bugis Beatles on the Net who sometimes play at an open field near my workplace. I thought these were the same guys MLB told me she saw playing over there too but after some checks, I don't think they're the same fellas.
Bugis Beatles have shifted to Bukit Merah Secondary School and they play on Sundays mostly. I can't do Sundays due to work.
Next best thing for me to do is to find out who the guys MLB saw playing on that open field and to ask them if I could join in the fun. Don't know when that'd be.
Meantime, if you happen to know any bunch of guys who play soccer around Braddell, Toa Payoh, Bugis or City Hall, do let me know.
